Finding Disney themed embellishments and papers in your local craft store is getting harder and harder these days. The selection of scrapbooking products has been reduced in stores and the Disney themed products are few. So what is a Disney paper scrapbook lover to do? It’s time to broaden your horizons and look into digital scrapbooking files as a whole new source!
If you’re a paper scrapper, you probably have never consider digital scrapbooking as a source for your supplies. You might be thinking “I don’t do digital scrapbooking so none of that applies to me”. Today I’m going to show you how easy it is to create paper layouts using digital files. The fabulous thing about using digital files is that you can resize each item as big or small as you need, and you can use it over and over again.
CT Member Esther is our traditional paper layout artist. She creates gorgeous paper layouts using my digital scrapbooking products along with her printer and Cricut Maker. Take a look at some of her pages. These are all PAPER layouts!
Let’s take a look at how Esther created her Toy Story Land paper layout from above using digital files from the Toy Land Mania collection.
Esther used a word art title from the Toy Land Mania collection. These digital files are in a PNG format which can be imported into most design software programs including Photoshop, Cricut Design Space, Silhouette Studio and even Microsoft Word. A program allows you to vary the size of the word art title to be as big or small as you want.
Here’s some of the printed and cut embellishments that Esther used to make her paper layout. There’s a page starter, a word art title, papers, and a few elements. These have already been printed and cut with her Cricut Maker.
She used a page starter which are pre-clustered embellishments. These are great for paper scrappers because all the clustering has been done for you and it’s very easy to print this one item. These are PNG files and you can make it as small or as large as needed. Esther tucked a few paint splat images behind this page starter.
From the Toy Land Mania kit, Esther used several papers and paint splats. All papers are JPG files sized at 12×12. With your program, you can resize them to any rectangular and square block.
After importing the PNG files for the page starter, word art title, and other elements into her Cricut Design Space, she resized them and arranged them on multiple pages for printing. Each item is set to cut the outline of the image. Here’s a look at the printed pages that are now ready to feed into the Cricut Maker for cutting.
Now all that’s left is to arrange the pieces on the page and glue them down with her ATG tape runner. So pretty and so easy to do! Here’s the final page.
Let’s walk through another example of a paper layout Esther made using the World Of Avatar collection. Esther says that her scrapping style has really changed with digital files. She says there’s so many more matching elements so her layering techniques have improved a lot. Here’s her page. Notice that amazing job of layering all the flowers and ferns, giving her page a fabulous texture to it.
Esther selected a page starter which was placed in the middle of the layout on top of all the flowers and greenery. This page starter is a cluster grouping of a Snippet, Pocket, Word Flair title and several elements. Page Starters are fabulous because they already been clustered and shadowed together for you.
These are all the pieces Esther used to make this layout. All the items have been printed and cut. There’s a page starter and several elements from the kit. They look like you just purchased them from the craft store, but they are actually all made with digital products. Pretty amazing!
